EM, NEMA, whatever - if it controls a traffic signal, you can talk about it here.

EPAC 300 is up and running!

Postby EagleSignalFan on Mon Dec 21, 2009 4:06 pm

I have finally acquired all of the components necessary to get my Eagle EPAC 300 M34 controller running signals . I have it set up running on an 8 phase backpanel with 5 phases currently enabled with main street and cross street thru traffic, as well as a protected left turn for southbound main street. There is also a seperate side street on a different phase (Big thanks to Nick for helping me with programming all of this). Here are some Pics (Sorry for the somewhat lousy quality. I had to take these with my cell phone as I had no other digital camera available :rob:):

This is main street facing south. There are two phases here. The thru traffic is controlled by my 12 inch poly McCain signal with Dialight incandescent look LEDs (Yellow signal on the left). The protected left turn traffic is controlled by my McCain PV signal on the right (This is one of the special gray ones that I purchased from Sean, DFWSignals89).

Here is main street facing north. Traffic is controlled here by a lone 8 inch second generation Durasig. This signal has (and came with) TCT cutaway visors that were sheet metal screwed to the doors. It works for now, but I would like to eventually get a replacement set of doors with the genuine Durasig straight-tabbed or "stupid" type visors.

Here is the cross street. Thru traffic is controlled by my Aluminum McCain signal on the left. The protected right turn (tied into the same phase as the main street protected left) is controlled my my Aluminum TCT signal on the right.
Image

Here is the third side street. This is on a separate phase and turns green after the main and cross street phases have cycled. This is controlled by my 8 inch poly LFE signal with Dialight LEDs.

And finally, here is the brains of the intersection: My Eagle EPAC 300 M34 controller and 8 phase backpanel.

Nice job with the setup :good: but, please tell me there's no little kids and/or furry animals allowed in that room!

Don't worry, I don't allow any unauthorized personnel near this when it is running.

WOW! Great setup Jeff. Did you have any luck finding that 3 channel conflict monitor cable you were looking for?

wow, this is a great setup, like the stands you built to get the signals off the floor. I need to get something like that going (everything is sitting on the floor in my garage).

Thanks everyone  This was a fun project, and I do hope to add some more things to it (I do have the space on the backpanel!).

Unfortunately, not as of yet, I am still looking for it...

Yea, this makes it much easier to fish the cables into the signals from the bottom. I'm still trying to find a good way to display the PV, I have the pipe adapters and would like to build some sort of stand, but am really concerned about the weight of the signal.

I believe Nick is supporting his 3M using just a pipe stand with a round wooden base, and it works fine. My 3M is on a pipe stand but I have a weighted metal base for it (old theatrical lighting boom), and it's not going anywhere even though it's on carpet!
