Fantastic!

Reminds me of my trip to Wales last year. Makes me miss it, honestly. :)

The PAGE Signals lanterns are Mellor Design signals. Other companies who made these include Siemens/Plessey, GEC, Monitron and a few others.

The Siemens heads are called 'Helios'. They're now manufacturing a complete door with LED insert that is designed to retrofit onto the PEEK heads (which are called 'Elite').

I'll try and get you a few pics inside a Mellor lantern, though its not very interesting!

apparently
the peek elites have 240v transformers and so do the page signals but very old ones they will convert the power to 12v for the halogen bulbs also the siemens has these lense called CLS 240v I think they copy PEEK

All the incandescent lanterns in Britain since the introduction of the Mellor into service in 1973 have used 240v > 12v drop down transformers to run the 50w Quartz Halogen Capsule Lamps. The transformers can also run at a lower voltage input which allows the signals to be dimmed at night by dropping the output voltage from the controller.

Tin lanterns, SGEs and Forest City heads in use prior to the intoduction of the Mellor used 240v 60w clear ES cap globes.

LED signals have different transformers in some cases - the TSEU/Microsense LSH uses 48V transformers. The Swarco Futur3LED modules used in MOTUS and Telent-TSEU kit these days uses a 240v supply voltage (still capable of dimming) so must have internal drop-down transformers, though I've never opened one of my modules up to see!
