Fire Alarm and Police Telegraph Book

Postby OldCarcelero on Sun Jan 03, 2010 9:07 pm

I just got this book a few days ago and if you are into Fire Alarm boxes and want to know history of them this is one of the few that are out there. So far I am very happy with it but wish that there was more Police Call Boxes in it as that is my interest. The title is History of the Fire Alarm and Police Telegraph by Paul Roncallo. You can check Amazon for the best price. I have Fire Alarm by Paul Ditzel (out of print now) also and both are great for reference. Remember in the old days, at an intersection there was a Signal, Fire Hydrant, Fire Alarm and sometimes a Police Call Box but nowadays the only member of that family still around (for the most part) is the signal.

I don't think that technology has replaced the fire hydrant yet. ...but if it happens, either Bill Gates or Google will figure out a way to make money from it.

I stand corrected. The faithful hydrant is still there and working.
