Cabinet Power Up Sequence

Postby EPAC-EPIC-MARC on Mon Jun 03, 2013 8:13 pm

I thought I'd share the power up sequence for my cabinet, so you can see all the equipment coming online following power being switched on to the system.

Just to break down the video, the EPAC M50 beeps twice to indicate the removable display is connected to the controller body. The display uses a digital contrast versus a mechanical pot switch for contrast, and it always start at the darkest setting. Not sure if that was an bug that was fixed in later firmware versions.

You'll notice the MMU is flashing back and forth early then the red fault LED comes on. The MMU (and most standard conflict monitors) only allow for a minimum flash, if the start up controller flash mode is longer it will hold in a CVM fault state until the controller starts operating. It will (and does) reset on its own near the end of the video.

The BIUs immediately show a green lit indicator when power is applied. It takes about 8 seconds for the SDLC communication in the TS-2 cabinet to start between the controller and the other equipment. At that time the communication transmit and receive indicators on the MMU and BIUs start pulsing continuously.

The video processor shows video inputs 1 and 2 with a yellow indicator, and inputs 3 and 4 with red indicators. Red mean nothing is connected to them. Yellow means the cameras are in a fail safe mode. It takes two cycles before the processor locks the video picture from the cameras and begins allowing detector calls. At that point the yellow indicator turns green.

After 20 seconds of flash the transfer relays close and the signals begin normal operation.
