Your back yard looks like a lot of fun, I'm affraid that my uppity neighbors would never appreciate/tolerate such wonderful yard art. They would be on the :phone: calling the H/O association....bla bla bla....

Hi Mark,

We don't have an HOA for our neighborhood. Just a civic association that cost $10 a year.

Our neighbors are pretty cool. Most around here are always wondering what we are going to do or bring home next when I come back from the sea. The retired narcotics cop next door has been wondering how many lights will we have in the back yard. Think they give him occasional flashbacks when he stares at them too long.....

Cheers!

Us too. Neighborhood associations are great, and can actually accomplish a lot through politics and public relations; as long as you don't give them any actual power.

I love your back yard. I'm thinking about emulating that wooden walk, but wondering how to keep Florida critters from living under it.

I live in a "historic district" -- which is wonderful except that my signs and signals probably don't really qualify for their definition of "historic". Indeed -- there wouldn't have been traffic lights at all (and probably barely any streets, at least that we'd recognize?) in 1885, when the beginnings of this house got planted on this corner -- so I can't really argue with 'em... :Phil:

But anyways. ONE QUESTION, Keith -- what's on the other side of that large wooden fence at the back of your yard? It looks like what they build when there's a freeway over there. And IF SO, have you ever given any thought to installing a "window" in it, so passers-by can enjoy the show, too??

Hiya Guys,

Thanks for the compliments on the back yard. We still have a long way to go before we think it may be done and then it will not. Constantly in flux.

Vaughn, we have "critters" that occasionally use our deck and walkway for shelter. When the weather warms up, they usually go elsewhere. Depending on where you live in Palm Beach County, I would be concerned about snakes and occasional scorpions.

Tim, behind our yard is a large storm drainage ditch and on the other side is the fence. About two years ago before the fence was a horse pasture with trees. The property was sold and a new elementry school was built on one end. Most of the property was bulldozed and is now a vacant field.

I placed the flags for different countries on the fence about 16 months ago to brighten up the view for Sondra. I picked these flags up from two different salvage jobs in Haiti and Mobile, Alabama.

Cheers!

Whoo Hooo! Parts for Sondra's RR Light arrived today!

Did an inspection of the parts and the access plate will fit but do have to repair the electro-magnet in the bell. Looks like someone had taken the mounting bolts loose and tore out the wires feeding it. Have to remove the winding and see if I can get to both ends.

Cheers!

Where will the bell be mounted, below the lights, or on top??

I believe the bell mounts on the top of the pole.

That's a great light, and a great yard too. Nice work Keith and Sondra.

What's with all the quotes in everyone's signatures?
