Then there were nine

This EF20, one of ten left in town clunked its last cluck today. Now we only have nine.

Here it is sitting in the shadow of the replacement cabinet (a TMP-390 in "M" size).

The intersection started in 6/15/61 when an Eagle 41E beacon was hung on a diagonal span. The beacon was upgraded to the EF20 on 7/29/69 which ran until today. A couple shots of the old paperwork.

Some thumbnails to the album. I have another being replaced tomorrow and the third on Wednesday.

I would say that the taxpayers got their moneys-worth out of that controller. :clapping:

Are you in a definite program to retire all your EF controllers?

Sort of the perfect storm of opportunity. Couple years back we upsized 30 cabinets in the downtown area from "M" to "P" giving us a supply of good "M" cabinets. Congestion on 30th got a timing review and it was determined that the east-west split needed more time.

The EF controllers have fallen off the radar for upgrades. We did a couple 4 years ago, and 2 are being done on a project out to bid now but these other 8 weren't on any list. We're doing it on the cheap, banding the cabinet to the pole, using existing wires, couple hour job. Some time down the road we will be pouring a new cabinet base and install new span, heads and cable but it probably won't be in my lifetime.
