Did you drill holes through the back to mount the controller module? :panic:

Yes we did! Going to be an outdoor unit and want to make sure the module does not come loose.

We have been trying to get this light operational before I fly out tomorrow. Here is our progress....

These were rubber gaskets for 12 inch lenses.

This is an example of a gasket reduced in size and ends glued for an 8 inch lens. These fit into the door perfectly.

Temporary door gasket. Sondra and I wanted to see the light operating before I leave for work.

First of the reflector assemblies installed.

...... and in our excitement to finish, we forgot to take more photos of progress......

Will try to take a couple of photos in the morning with daylight before I leave.

Ahh..... the Eagle everyone asks.....
Image

We shop at estate sales for various odds and ends for decorating our home and yard. Many of these sales, we see short staffs with American flags with an eagle on the end. This got me to thinking about the light arrangement on the posts. It would look odd if the wire hangers were left inplace and had originally thought of plugging the top hole. When I went out to see what pipe plugs and fittings I had, I thought it would be unique to have some kind of figure or object on the top. In many old towns, we have seen the old light poles with a figurine on top or holding the light globe. The idea of an Eagle came to mind since it is an American icon. We like old time Americana. The Eagle is brass which is approximately 9 inches tall with a wingspan of 6 inches. The ball it sits on is hollow. The hole in the bottom was drilled out and tapped for 1/4 inch NPT pipe thread.

On the top of the light, we used a 1-1/4 inch to 3/4 inch pipe bushing which is secured inplace with a locking nut. On top of this bushing is a brass 3/4 to 1/4 inch bushing with a 1/4 inch brass closed nipple that is used to attach the Eagle. The brass pipe fittings were ground to round out the appearance of the base for the eagle.

We thought this would look pretty cool. Now we know it looks Awesome!

Cheers!
