Hello from Gatineau

This is the new member sandbox. Until you post a little something about yourself here, you don't get to play on the rest of the board. So tell us a little something about yourself and your signals.

I could be wrong, but I think you're the first member on here from Quebec.

Bienvenue! :hello:
A cop pulled me over and said, "Papers..." So I replied, "Scissors! I win!" and drove off.

I wish it was mine. I just lifted the pictures for the purpose of the conversation.
Moderately inspirational message.

Thanks everyone! I thought they might have been Electromega, but I don't know much about who makes what. And, for the record, my name is Brett!

Bienvenue! :hello:

I'm actually from rural Nova Scotia (where they use 12" lights for everything), but I'm living in Gatineau, Québec.

I'm a fan of both too! Much better than Ontario (whose signs are, frankly, god-awful). And Nova Scotia's are very, very American-esque. My favourite thing about Québec's signs is their exit numbers.

Ontario signs are alright, but I do agree that some improvements can be made. For example, the corners on the white outline ought to be rounded and not squared, like the rest of the country does.

And Nova Scotia's signs would look more American-esque if they aligned their exit tabs properly. Seriously, why are they all left-justified? Other than that, I do agree on how they look American. I've always found it odd, however, that their trunk route shields look identical to the American US highway shields.

As for the Quebec exit numbers, you mean those trapezoidal yellow plaques plastered on the bottom of the signs? If so, I definitely do agree that they are really cool. However, they should switch back to their old design (going back to the blue guide signs on the toll roads would also be wicked awesome  ).

Yes, those were what I meant! I wouldn't see the use of the blue signs anymore seeing as there are very few toll roads in Québec anymore (the only one I can think of is the toll bridge on A25, where they put electronic toll signs on top of all the guide signs). Re: Ontario, I don't mind the square edges actually, I just don't like how there's like no standards for where route number signs go or anything. Every sign is just worse than the one before it. Not to mention Ontario's stupid 400-series highway system and lack of secondary and trunk routes. (The Interstate/Autoroute route numbering system is so much better).

Looks like 12" Ped sections to me......... :Phil:
Well what do you know. If I put my name here, I do not have to sign it everytime.

I'll try and get some picture of the lights the Ville de Gatineau uses; probably tomorrow. They also use really nice pedestrian crossing lights (They countdown from the "walk" light, not from the flashing "don't walk". Some minor intersections countdown from 99.)

It's about time someone from Quebec joined the Signal Traffic Forums. WELCOME! Look forward to seeing the photos you share.

Happy Saint-Jean Baptiste day, everyone! Here's some local lights:

^^ Note this intersection has a protected left turn (that functions) leading to concrete barriers (and a 2 foot drop into a parking lot)
